Hi, I’m Javi!

I’m a Cuban caricature and cartoon artist who loves drawing people (and their pets!). I create custom digital toons for clients from Miami to Palm Beach and anywhere in the country: you send photos, I send smiles

I trained at the Roberto Diago Provincial School of Visual Arts in Matanzas, Cuba, graduating in 2004. I went on to study film animation at ICRT, Cuba’s national TV institute, and cartoon production at ICAIC, the Cuban film institute, and worked in ICRT’s cartoon department as an animator and animation director. In Cuba my work was shown at the Oscar María de Rojas Museum, the Conrado Massaguer Salon and Gallery, and group comics shows in Cárdenas and Varadero, with solo shows in 2010. In 2015 I founded Get Tooned by Javi, and since then I’ve shown my work at a market show in Wynwood, Miami, and in a collective Día de los Muertos exhibition. I’ve also worked as a vendor at a major Florida comic convention, drawing custom comic covers and caricatures for fans.

For me, a great caricature isn’t just a funny face. It’s you: your personality, your inside jokes, the way your dog looks at you when you open the fridge. That’s what I try to capture in every drawing.

I also love traditional painting (watercolor, acrylic and oil), so if you’re looking for a classic portrait, I do those too.
